Fields Irrigation wants your lawn to be the best on the block. Aeration and overseeding is one of the steps to that beautiful lawn and we are getting ready to begin this service. In the effort to keep you informed about timely services we wanted to give you some information on this service.
To keep your lawn looking it’s best or to get your unhealthy lawn looking great again aeration, overseeding and fertilizing is a must. The heat of this summer, high humidity and lack of water will all affect your grass. Tall Fescue is the recommended seed for this area, but it does need to be reseeded to keep it looking good each year. Our aeration is a double core aeration and we offer the best seed available, Blue Tag certified which is zero percent weed and other crop content. Core aeration loosens up the soil and allows water, oxygen and other nutrients to get to the roots of your grass and gives new seed a place to grow. For lawns that have heavy traffic on them core aeration is necessary. Overseeding will thicken your grass in thin areas and rejuvenate the existing grass. Fertilizing is necessary to jumpstart the seed growth. We also recommend feeding the lawn two more additional times in the fall once 4-6 weeks after aeration, seeding and starter fertilizer, with a 24-0-10 fertilizer and then a winterization fertilizer 4-6 weeks after the 2nd application with a 24-0-10.
We offer options for this service. We can quote your property to be aerated and overseeded, which would include the seed and fertilizer. If you would like us to aerate only and leave you the seed and fertilizer we can do that. We are offering the opportunity for you to pick up seed and fertilizer at our shop. Finally we are offering aeration, overseeding and fertilizing with an upgraded seed, Southern Lawn Maxx Coated Seed. Costs are below, if you are using the regular seed you would use the Southern Lawn seed and the Starter fertilizer. We will also quote the two additional fertilizations.
We are offering an upgraded seed this year. Southern Lawn Maxx grass seed contains a patented and proprietary blend of Performance Nutrition’s Prudent 44, KaPre Remed8, Krystal Klear Turf Mix, and KaPre Embella. The coated seed is proven to need less water. SLB Maxx will still bring more color and longer roots. Complimented by the trusted Southern Lawn brand, Maxx is pre-treated with some of the groSMART technologies, allowing for top-tier results. Proven to need less water and fertilizer during application, In three independent trials, Southern Lawn Maxx outperformed traditional straight tall fescue by 40% quicker germination while using 30% less nitrogen and phosphorous.
The starter fertilizer is a Helena exclusive that has Asset Root Enhancer. This is impregnated onto all prills. Increased and faster rooting is the key component of adding the Asset to a starter fertilizer. I’ve attached a trial that we did in Richmond on a sodded yard with Asset G. The same technology goes into a fertilizer prill that is impregnated with Asset.
The Fall and winter fertilizer is an organic humic acid prill that is coated with Axilo Mix 5. With this product you’ll see increased nutrient and water holding capacity in this blend with a great color response from the micros. Increased rooting is also a by-product of humic acids. Axilo 5 is a multiple element combination product which provides an enhanced plant response. Axilo Mix 5 contains Boron, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Molybdenum and Zinc. This fertilizer will prevent and treat a wide range of micronutrient deficiencies.
